Sometimes, specially in a kid birthday party or in a party where number of kids and teens are present, it becomes a little difficult to decide about what drinks to serve that will be loved by both the children and adults. Alcoholic drinks are a strict no-no in a kid's birthday party and nowadays children are not really satisfied with just hot chocolate drink. So, I have found some drink recipes that are perfect for any party and for everyone.

In this winter season, hot drinks will be loved by the guests.
Healthy Hot Carob Drink
Serves 2.

Ingredients
2 cups soy milk
2 tablespoons carob powder
1 tablespoon honey

Method
1 cup cup soy milk, honey and carob powder are added to a saucepan. Heat over stove low/medium heat until honey and carob dissolve. One cup of more soy milk is added. Heat slowly and don't boil.

Children, who are very finicky about food would love to have the Smoothies.
Cinnamon Apple Smoothie
Serves 1.

Ingredients
1 cup milk
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 small apple
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
handful of ice cubes

Method
Wash and peel apple. Cut up into cubes and take out the seeds. Add ingredients and blend for one minute.

Bahama Breeze Recipe

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup strawberries sliced
1 banana sliced
1/2 cup coconut cream
2 cups ice

Method
Blend all ingredients in blender . Puree until thick and smooth. Pour into a glasses. Garnish with a strawberry if desired.

Cherry Hawaiian Fizz Recipe
Serves 10

Ingredients
20 ounces cherry mix
3.33 lemonade mix
3.33 orange juice
3.33 sprite

Method
Add cherry mix to glass - fill with 1/3 each remaining ingredients.

You will need: white flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp of baking powder, 6 eggs, 1 tsp lemon juice, vanilla essence, ½ tsp grated lemon rind

Directions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Separate the whites and yolks of the eggs and beat the yolks until thick. Now add the sugar gradually and add the lemon juice and the rinds. Cut and fold in the sifted flour and cut and fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in an ungreased pan in a very moderate oven.
Bake until the cake is puffed and springs back when gently pressed. Now you can sprinkle some caster sugar on top of the sponge cake or have your favorite toppings and icings.

Mix well and spread evenly into the greased baking pan. Now sprinkle yellow cake mix on the top of the cake spread and pat lightly. Sprinkle chopped pecans on the top of this cake spread and drizzle with melted margarine. Bake for 60 to 80 minutes, until done. Top with whipped topping and your pumpkin crunch is ready to serve!

I have an Indian friend Mansi, who lives here in San Jose, quite close to my place. Over the years she has become a very good friend of mine. My friend Suzanne and I share the same day birthday. It's coincidental, but somehow I feel that she is one of my very best friends, because we were born on the same day. We were both born on December 7th and it's unbelievable, that we hardly have any differences of opinion and cat fights, that are so very common among women friends. Same day birthday, though little uncommon, is wonderful, coz you get to enjoy two birthday celebrations and double yummy delights! Twins, who have same day birthdays, are often found to be diametrically opposites. I am lucky to share the same birthday with my dearest friend Suzanne. I feel that our friendship is eternal. We have two different birthday parties in our respective houses and we are showered with great birthday gifts from our common friends.

Halloween Birthday Celebration Ideas Part 2

In my last post about Halloween birthday, I discussed about unique Halloween recipes that would surprise everyone invited to your party. Here are some more Halloween birthday party ideas:

1) For your Halloween birthday party, select a theme which you like. You can plan something like Harry Potter theme, especially if you have children coming to your party. Include Harry Potter games and quiz for the children and give the winners special Harry Potter prizes like Harry Potter coins, sweatshirts, goodie bags filled with Harry Potter magic tricks, candies, wizard hats etc. which would please the little monsters invited to your party!

2) If you plan to have a pumpkin carving party for your birthday, you can request everybody invited to bring their own pumpkin. Play some fun Halloween music to greet your guests. You can have a “build a scarecrow” competition in your party to add to the fun. Pack all the old and tattered clothes in a big laundry bag. Divide all the children into 3 or 4 groups and let them take some assistance from an elder. Give them instructions what the scarecrow should look like. The group who makes the best scarecrow will get a surprise gift. After that, you can start the pumpkin carving competition, so that everyone has their own Jack O' Lantern. The most perfect 3 pumpkin carvers will walk away with the prize.

3) Keep sufficient food in the dining area, so that your guests can snack in whenever they feel hungry. Chicken pizzas, veggies, chicken wings, pumpkin pies, pumpkin cakes, Halloween cookies, candies, desserts, hamburgers, mashed potato, sandwiches, sausages, etc, would be fantastic to make children and adults lick their fingers.

4) When it's time for dinner, shut off all the lights, and light candles, to create the maximum scary effect. Keep the glowing Jack O' Lanterns and play scary music in the background. Let everyone share their spooky stories, experiences and jokes amid the light and dark ambiance.

5) For Halloween costume birthday party, decorate the inside and outside of your house to give it a haunted look. Place spider webs (available at any Halloween store), tombstones made from plywoods, creepy scarecrows in your garden or front of the house to welcome the guests! Inside of the house can be decorated with spider webs, artificial skeletons, mummies (made from old clothes and rolls of gauze), Jack O' Lanterns, scary masks, and so on. Make bats (cut out from black paper) and hang them from the ceiling using clear thread. Keep candy bags for children as special gifts and mouthwatering Halloween recipes.

Jennifer's Pizza Party

My friend Jennifer hosted a cool pizza party for her 31st birthday. It was great fun! We had loads of mouthwatering pizzas and coke, with all our friends from college and university. Jennifer always makes sure to invite all old friends, so that we can meet up and recollect the nice times spent together.

We had a blast--good food, great music, movies, and clicking photos were some of the party activities that we enjoyed. Brad has a nice collection of the latest DVDs, so we had a fun movie time. On top of it, Jennifer made some yummy ice creams(she is an expert in them!). Guess what? I met my old college pal Julia at the birthday bash. She is staying at a different city, but flew down to attend Jennifer's birthday party this time! So, it was kinda reunion!

We get so many birthday gifts, but we remember only the ones, which are truly special. Of all the birthday gifts that I received, my 18th birthday is most memorable for the unique gift that I got. On my 18th birthday, I got a beautiful hand-woven dress made by my granny. It is made of white silk lace with red satin floral prints all over it. It is beautiful even today, and I cherish it as a special keepsake. I have preserved it with great care and wear it only on special family occasions. The dress is my dear possesion and would remind me of my granny, when she is no more! She is now very old, almost 86, and frail. I wish her long life and pray that she lives many more years!

Make Balloon Clusters

Supplies:
3 balloons for each cluster

1. Blow up two balloons and tie together.
2. Blow up a third balloon and tie to the first pair. Fig. 1

Now you have a cluster of three that can be used in many different ways. Hang them from your chandelier, on the swags of your table cloth, from your drapes, or just space them on the walls around your room.

Make Curling Ribbon Clusters

Supplies:
3 Eggs of Curling Ribbon in 3 different colors

Directions:
1. Place the ends of the three different colors of curling ribbon together.

2. Measure 1 1/2 yards.

3. Cut and tie strands in the middle.

4. Curl ribbon with scissors.

5. Slide strands down through a Balloon

Make Crepe & Curling Ribbon added to Balloon Clusters

Supplies:
Several Balloon Clusters
3 Rolls of Crepe Paper

Directions:
1. Place the ends of all crepe rolls together. Slip about 20'' of crepe down between Balloon Cluster. (Do not cut)

2. Hang cluster from a chandelier, or pin to curtain, etc.

3. If you want to drape crepe from one cluster to another, follow Balloon Clusters instructions to make as many clusters as you need and hang them around the room.

4. Holding the crepe rolls in your hand begin twisting crepe as you walk toward the second cluster. Bring crepe up to the cluster, measure another 20'' and cut.

5. Slip tail down between balloons. If you want a single cluster, cut the second half of crepe (measuring from cluster) 20'' long and slide down through balloons.

6. Add Curling Ribbon Clusters

Make Crepe Paper Rosettes

Supplies:
3 Rolls of Crepe Paper
Small Amount of Matching Curling Ribbon

Directions:

Use all three rolls of crepe. Cut ends on a slant, and place together, one on top of the other.
Measure 22" and hold mark with your fingers. Measure another 4" and fold crepe back onto itself.
Keep crepe flat and line up the edges of the 4" length evenly with the edges of the 22" length.
Fold crepe back on itself again.
Continue to fold 4" lengths back and forth until you have six layers of 4" loops.
Cut ends the same length as the first three tails of crepe. Tie a piece of curling ribbon tightly around all layers of crepe 3 1/4" from top of loops, catching the bottoms of all 4" lengths.
Separate loops by placing your forefinger inside at the top of each loop, use your thumb and second finger to pinch loop at the bottom and give it a 1/4 twist. Twisting will keep each loop from sliding back into the one next to it.
Continue separating each group of loops, alternating the colors.
Insert two or three fingers inside each loop and spread apart all the way down to the base to fluff and smooth each loop.
Pin rosettes to the corner of your table cloth, on your curtains or place in the middle of a balloon cluster. Drape one or two of the tails around balloons and let the rest hang below rosette.
